Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy
Neurodivergence is part of the natural diversity of human minds, not a disorder to be corrected. I offer neurodiversity-affirming therapy by telehealth to ADHDer, AuDHDers, and other neurodivergent adults in California, New Mexico, Oregon, and Washington. You decide what well-being and success mean for you.
Who this is for
I work with autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD adults, and with anyone who diverges from neuronormative expectations in ways that fall under the wider neurodivergent umbrella. Self-identification is valid, and you do not need a diagnosis, or certainty, to work with me. I also work with mixed-neurotype relationships, and I see individuals as well as Dyadic and Triadic+ relationships.
Many neurodivergent people are also queer or trans, and some describe themselves as neuroqueer. All of who you are is welcome here.
How I work
My work is grounded in the neurodiversity paradigm instead of the pathology paradigm. I do not treat autism or ADHD as disorders, and the goal is never to help you appear more neurotypical. We focus on easing the distress you want help with, not on changing traits that are simply part of who you are.
Neuronormativity, the idea that there is one right way for a mind to function, operates alongside other systems of power such as capitalism and cisheteronormativity. I bring the same anti-oppressive, anti-capitalist lens here that I bring to all of my work. Your worth is not measured by productivity or by how well you fit in. Stimming and special interests are welcome, as are different ways of communicating, and you never need to hold eye contact or keep still with me.
Through IFS, we can get to know the parts of you that learned to mask in order to be accepted or avoid harm, appreciating the work they have done while making room to set some of it down. If you are plural, IFS language is never imposed, and your system's understanding of itself comes first. AEDP keeps connection at the center, because so many neurodivergent people have spent years feeling alone in how they experience the world.
